Boulevard of Broken Dreams

The title of today's blog is COMPLETELY opposite to how I'm feeling in life, in general. Broken dreams? Broken dreams are unheard of in my reality. I just thought that the song would go along nicely to reinforce the quotes that have affected me today...

"You know what's so stange about walking that long, and oftentimes lonely, road of life? When you reach its end, you won't remember it as long, or lonely."
~More Notes from the Universe (Dooley, Mike)

"
Throughout your entire life you've moved mountains, averted disasters, and orchestrated the most thrilling of comebacks, clutches, and coincidences. Hey, I should be asking you for help."

~ More Notes from the Universe (Dooley, Mike)

(This second one requires explanation, as it's not entirely in line with my beliefs at first glance. I am aware of how much I can do with my life. And I know that it is possible because I am working under the great scheme of the universe. It's impossible for anything that I do to be wrong or imperfect, because everything is designed so that I will always be in alignment with what I am meant to experience and accomplish.)

Have a wonderful rainy day!

Semblance of Liberty

Well folks... this is it.

School is done. And while summer is here and we are all celebrating, eagerly anticipating the parties, BBQs, and long cottage weekends to come, I think some may be jumping the gun a little on feeling free and clear. Just because exam are done, doesn't mean it's Party Time for everyone...

I, for one, have some SERIOUS work to do. I have my regular job at the burger joint, plus babysitting and doing barn chores on the side. Fingers crossed that it will bring in enough dough for the summer. Crunching the numbers looks promising, and I'm starting on a Summer Vision Board, something to help me see how my money is growing. (Pictures to be posted soon.)

Aside from that, I have some serious decluttering to do! My room's a disaster (and half of it needs to be boxed up for the Big Move anyway), and my computer needs to be dejunkified. I plan to do it all this summer, and I plan to do it well.

As well, in order to keep my studying skills up this summer, I plan to attend chuch regularly, and be diligent about keeping a notebook of journals and study notes. With all this, plus keeping up with blogging and Facebook, I don't know HOW I'm going to find time for the other thing I plan to accomplish this summer...

summer romance [n. suhm-er roh-mans]

-noun
  1. A brief, lust-filled romantic venture occuring during the summer months between school terms, often between a very attractive young couple

Yes, you heard right. I plan to be romanced. And I don't want anything too froo-froo or gooshy. I also don't want sex... just fun! Someone to play beach volleyball with and have picnics in the park. Walking around at Kempenfest in August, and helping me pack, then wishing me well, when I leave in the fall. No strings, no attachments, no committment. And, I mean, maybe it won't happen (which is absolutely not a big deal, since I trust that the universe is taking care of things in its own good order), but it would definitely be nice. :D

I'm off to go make some dinner before I split for babysitting tonight, but as one final note, I'd like to say that I'M GRADUATING IN 4 DAYS! And I'm friggin' excited for Grad. It happens to occur on the exact same date that my elementary school grad happened on... June 29th. Which, I feel, is very lucky!

But, until then, (and you will most likely hear from me again then), so long, farewell, auf weidersehn... and all that jazz.

Enjoy the start of your summer kids!

Hate Me

Dear Facebook Users Worldwide,

I am not a huge fan of judgment and hatred, so please don't hate on people on social networking sites. Not only are you abusing the internet, and sending out hurtful, negative energy into the world, you are really just wasting your energy on something that people may not even read.

Keep it to yourself!

Yours in Internet Publishing,

Songbird

Path of Roses

Dear JOA community,

I have had a wonderful four years with you. My high school career has culminated in the utmost of joys. However, things were not always so joyous. I've faced my fair share of trials this year. I've come through it all though, with so much to show for it. I'm ready to move on to the next phase in my life. But first, a brief look back at the 4 years that have passed...

Promenade

Dearest 2010 prom committee,

Prom was... dissappointing to say the least. Not what I ever expected it to be at all. Actually, it was just downright lame, because all people cared about was going out to their afer parties. Nobody even danced! Everybody ate, took their pictures and left, and it was just not what you would think prom should be.

Like, everybody looked great, and it was nice to take pictures. I received the "Most Likely to Win Canadian Idol" award, which was kinda cool, and the food was decent. But it wasn't what prom was supposed to be. There was no reminiscing about the past four years of our lives. Nobody wanted to dance with the people that they may never see again. It didn't feel like a commemmorative celebration of our high school years. It felt like an excuse to go camping and get really drunk. The actual dance could have been eliminated from the evening's events. We could have saved time, and the money that we spent on a DJ, because people were basically out of there as soon as they'd finished their dinner and pictures.

One especially good part of the evening? You didn't assign nameless boy whom I have come to loath to a table!!!! It kind of made my evening. So thank you for that.

Maybe your prom experience was worth it, but mine was certainly lacking. Of course, in the near future, I will be a happy hippie, working for a great magazine, writing my first book, and living in a chic, urban apartment. I will be able to simply glance out my window and see you working the cash at the fast food joint across the street. I may even walk across the street to invite you to my next big soiree, and then I can show you what a good time looks like (sans booze).

Until then,

Songbird
